Fee Waiver Eligibility Review

You must usually pay a filing fee to file your forms. If you cannot afford the fee, you can apply to waive it. This interview will create the forms needed to ask the judge to waive your fee. If the judge denies your fee waiver, you will be required to pay the filing fee.

Before applying for a fee waiver, think about the following:

  • Fee waivers are only granted for extreme financial hardship, such as unemployment, very low income, or receiving public benefits.
  • If the judge denies your fee waiver, you will have to pay the filing fees. Your case may not be able to move forward if you do not pay.
